Richardson Theatre Centre to present The Hollow

The Richardson Theatre Centre and director Rachael Lindley have decided to transport the intriguing “who dunnit?” murder mystery play, The Hollow from the quaint English country side to the steamy Mississippi city of Vicksburg.

“The Hollow reads like a good southern gothic novel, it has much of the same elements and eccentric characters, even the phrasing of the language lends itself to a deep southern accent.” says director Rachael Lindley.

A great cast has been assembled for this show. There's even a real southern import all the way from Mexico City. Carlos Cohen-Leon will be making his theatrical debut in this show. Carlos, a brand new Richardson resident just moved into town a month ago and landed the part of Sgt. Penny after just a few days of being in town. Charles Alexander of Richardson and Elaine Erback of North Dallas play the eccentric couple, Mr. and Mrs. Angaktell. The retired former Ambassador and his wife host a group of relatives and close friends for the weekend when murder ensues. Lise Alexander, Ted Strahan, Elise Libbers, Rachael Schnitzius- Rouse, Andrew Kasten all local Richardson residents round out the cast of would be murders along with Morgan Spollin of Allen, David Kelton of North Dallas, Charles Moore of North Dallas, and Jennifer Sims of Plano.

Former State District Judge and current attorney David Kelton plays Detective Colquhoun and is enjoying his role immensely. In fact, he gets to question a fellow attorney in the cast, Andrew Kasten. Andrew Kasten played the male lead in Gaslight at the Richardson Theatre Centre earlier this season. Lindley commented, “I did not have to do much direction in the cat and mouse scene between these two; they have a natural understanding of the game and make their time together on stage exciting and real.”

The opening night of The Hollow will be dedicated to the memory of Mr. Albert Kenneth (A.K.) Barth of Richardson. “Mr. Barth was a wonderful supporter of our opening night galas who will be greatly missed. This will be the first show in a long time where we won’t see his warm and friendly face encouraging us on. We will be establishing a scholarship in his name to encourage a disadvantaged youth in Richardson to pursue a career in the arts. One of Mr. Barth’s beliefs is that we should personally encourage a youth to succeed. We are going to do just that!” said Lindley.
