North Texans told to expect Gulf Coast refugees
With hurricane Gustav bearing down on the gulf coast, North Texas community officials have been told to expect a stream of refugees from the New Orleans area.
Furthermore, the possibility exists that the storm could still alter its course and smash into the Texas coast, sparing Louisiana.
Dallas is prepared to house up to 1,000 evacuees in the Convention Center - it might have accommodated more, but - according to the DMN article - the facility is booked up, with a Wal-Mart convention planned there next week.
So - maybe the Wal-Mart conventioneers could stock up from their own store shelves prior to arriving? I'm sure the refugees would appreciate it.
