Highland Village to hold tree lighting ceremony December 2
Our Village Glows, the annual Highland Village Christmas tree lighting ceremony, will move from Unity Park to a new home this year at The Shops at Highland Village.
Several thousand people are expected to attend the free event this Tuesday, Dec. 2nd, where a 54-foot-tall Christmas tree will be lit by Lewisville ISD Superintendent Dr. Jerry Roy at 7:00 p.m. using a custom-made 8-foot light switch.
"We are thrilled to hold the celebration at The Shops at Highland Village this year," said Sue Thompson, Community Development Manager of Highland Village.
Since 1999, the Highland Village Women's Club has hosted the annual tree lighting event, which features carolers, face-painting, cookie-decorating, school choirs, and a visit from Santa Claus.
"Our Village Glows is a great community event that The Shops at Highland Village is proud to host. It gives families a chance to spend time together while also preparing for the upcoming holiday season, all in a very fun atmosphere," said Sheri Holloway from mall owner Regency Centers.
