Austin-based T-Bird and the Breaks will preview new album at Lakewood Bar & Grill
Austin-based rhythm-and-blues band T-Bird and the Breaks will release their debut album of originals, Learn About It, nationally in January but will preview it in Dallas at a special CD Release show this month.
T-Bird and the Breaks' debut, Learn About It, whose street date is January 27, proves in songs such as "Juice" and "Blackberry Brandy" that Crane and company have a firm grasp of the timeless qualities of early-'60s through late-'70s rhythm & blues and soul.
The 11-piece band that features lead vocalist Tim Crane, keyboards, percussion, two saxes, backup singers, and lead, rhythm and bass guitars took second-place honors as Best New Band at this year's Austin Music Awards and garnered attention and praise as a finalist and the second-highest vote-getter in the 2008 Austin City Limits "The Sound & the Jury" battle of the bands.
T-Bird and the Breaks play their special Dallas CD Release Show at midnight Saturday, December 13, at Lakewood Bar & Grill.
