Plano student claims he was spanked and choked by bus driver

Email Print Tell us your story Comments (35)

A Plano seventh grader claims he was spanked, choked and pushed around by his bus driver. The case is under investigation by Plano ISD and it doesn't look good for the driver since the video surveillance tape from the bus shows the driver spanking and swatting at the child. The kid's parents are obviously furious.

"Mrs. Khonsari admits her son is hyperactive and has a discipline problem, but, she said, that is not an excuse for a bus driver to strike him."

While I agree the child should not have been "spanked" by the bus driver, said driver should not have to be a disciplinarian either. It is hard enough dealing with traffic and a time schedule, much less children who simply will not behave.

If the child cannot behave himself on the bus from pick up to drop off, then the parent should be delivering him to school. Also, a good a$$ busting wouldn't hurt him either. Sorry, but the driver should be driving, not have to deal with some idiot child with discipline problems. If he has serious problems then maybe he should ride the short bus and be restrained all the way to school.

Can't you just report their bad behavior to their parents and let them take care of it?

Oh, wait. 2008.... what was I thinking?

Can we ask the kids' grandparents to take the parents out behind the woodshed instead?

Jason, do they even have woodsheds in Plano?

Travis,

You can rent out Heritage Farmstead Museum for parties. Why not for a good spanking?

Then let mom and dad clean out the sheep stalls for good measure.

Back to basics and everybody wins.

I'm glad we all agree we're going to beat our children until something bleeds, but I hope we all remember that "acting up" doesn't give the bus driver reason to strike the child.

Back in my day, the driver would just stop the bus and let them off wherever they happened to be. A much better system.

I'll spank that kid... in Halo 3! What's his gamertag!

Guess it depends on what the kid was doing.

I saw a kid hit a bus driver in the face (intentionally) when the driver was pulling him off another kid during a fight. Driver smacked the hell out of him and didn't have anymore problems.

I liked that bus.

Why is it that Clarence the bus driver has the courage to do what the parents won't? If is parents don't like the treatment, they should take him to school. There is a new bus service available for kids like that. You ride the country side in a new white van and they even give you a new jacket when you sign up.

But Pavel, everyone wants to spank you.

If only "Off the bus!" were an option. Can you imagine the hell a driver would get for THAT? Whoa! That would be Armageddon!

Scott: well, obv that's a different situation than just "standing and speaking". And in that situation, your bus driver made the most awesome possible choice.

Wonder what the other kids have to say about it, as in whether there's more he was doing than simple stuff like that. Also wonder if there were any prior incidents of the driver being so reactionary.

Doyle...being a bus driver would be enough to send me over the edge. I'm not even sure why anyone would want to choose that as a job. Snotty children, clueless parents, Dallas traffic, all of which would lend itself to being a terrible job, and someone's spawn getting pimp slapped.

It is also worth noting that we aren't talking about a child. The kid in question is a 13 year old. The last time I was involved in an incident like this, I was in the 8th grade. Every kid on the bus got kicked off halfway to school. Needless to say, there were consequences for me when I got to school and then when I got home. Doesn't look like there will be any consequences for this young tardling, but more of a reward. He gets to be on the news and play the victim along with his fully grown tardling of a parental figure.

Can we swerve the topic back to beating Pavel?

11 months, 1 week ago ( Link to this comment | Suggest removal )

Travis Bush Verified

Really Jason, I doubt another beating will make that one behave.

No doubt that most people would fly off the handle if they had to cart around other people's brats (as the only supervision, no less). But if a 13 y/o is simply standing and talking I doubt that's all that provoked a physical reaction.

I'd simply give a "brake test" and savor watching the kid fall hard. Probably why I'm not being scouted as a bus driver.

Travis -- Oh, I see the confusion. You thought it would be "corrective" (for him) rather than "therapeutic" for the rest of us.

Silly man.

Normally, when someone is spanked and choked in Plano, it's your off again/on again sleepover Palates instructor (who some say still sleeps with your ex's shrink) after they found those cheese fries under the futon after your recent stint in bulimic rehab.

The incident which sparked the confrontation was the little snot bullying another child on the bus. And now his parents seem to be more upset about his "humiliation" than the spanking itself. Not one word of concern expressed for her brat's victim and his or her humiliation.

I think the kid is lying about the choking. The spanking? She turned him over her knee and gave him a few open handed swats on the seat of the jeans. If he was "humiliated" then good! That bus driver is a hero in my view.

Yes, and should not have resigned. One imagines though that she had just about as much as she could stand. A thankless job to say the least.
