December 6-7

Bert L. Long, Meal (1992), Burnt cornbread, beans, rice, chicken bones/wish bone in fiberglass resin.
- There is an arts and crafts festival at Dan's Silverleaf. Add this one to your list of art festivals for holiday shopping.
- Bert L. Long is having a show opening at HCG. Long's work is not only internationally known, it is also displayed in his very own home-made frames.
- The Trammell Crow is turning 10! Yay! And they are celebrating, double yay! Birthday parties are great.
- The White Rock Lake Museum (which is inside the Bath House Cultural Center) has an exhibit running through the beginning of January that highlights the effects of three types of pollution: herbicides, pesticides, and fertilizers; used oil and toxic materials; and illicit discharges. If you want to know more about how your actions affect the environment, this is one to check out.
- It's that time again, it's the MAC's annual Blue Yule event. This is a big darn deal. Artists will donate hand-made ornaments, there will be live music, a silent auction and "Mystery Punch."
- Samuel Lynne Galleries is opening a Small Works Show geared towards holiday shoppers.
- Saturday is the 4th Annual Art Conspiracy, featuring over 150 local artists, live music, the works. This year's theme is "Deconstructed."
December 12-14
- The Fort Worth Community Arts Center is having a big reception for their next round of exhibits opening. This will include the Works on Paper show, Sorry No Bluebonnets and FW 15.
- The Sons of Hermann is hosting an art sale with live music where you can purchase new works by artists for the art enthusiast on your list. The event is running all weekend, with a visit from Santa on Sunday.
- Project X is presenting a play at their studios exploring the most autobiographical work of Salvador Dali. The Hallucinogenic Toreador will be interesting to say the least and there are two weekends to see it. And it's only $10, which is still cheaper than most tanks of gas. (Random side note - I share a birthday with Dali.)
December 19-21
- Not a lot going on this last weekend of Christmas shopping. Stop by 500X for their Holiday Bazaar or check out some glass ornaments at Kittrell/Riffkind while you are out and about.
- The Ranjani Shettar exhibit opens the prior week at the Modern in Fort Worth if you're looking to get away from the holiday chaos.
December 26-28
Not much going on. Check our listing for ongoing events at the museums and galleries. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend!
On Goings and Goings On
- If you like chaos and complexity, this is your last week to check out the Dan Perfect show at Road Agent. The show runs through the 6th.
- Check out the Olafur Eliasson exhibit at the DMA. It's really good, I promise. You will still have to deal with the shitty parking situation from the Tut exhibit though.
- Bill Owens' New Suburbia is running at PDNB through the beginning of January with photographs of how we live. This is a goodie.
