Texas Parks and Wildlife to stock Elm Fork of Trinity River with rainbow trout
Texas Parks & Wildlife, in conjunction with the City of Lewisville and the Lewisville Lake Environmental Learning Area, will stock the Elm Fork of the Trinity River with more than 4,000 rainbow trout on four dates this winter as part of an ongoing program to boost the fish population and encourage recreational use of the river.
The state will release a total of 3,756 fingerlings on three dates - Dec. 17, Jan. 13 and Feb. 24 - below the Lewisville Dam spillway into the river. The fish were raised at Crystal Lake Fisheries in Ava, Montana, and are being transported from the Texas Freshwater Fisheries Center near Athens, Texas. Actual stocking dates are dependent on weather, so anglers should call the hatchery at 903.676.2277 to verify.
An additional stocking on Tuesday, Jan. 6, will release 250 one-pound fish purchased by the City of Lewisville, directly from Crystal Lake Fisheries.
Trout anglers will need to purchase a $5 Freshwater Fishing Stamp for their valid Texas fishing license in order to catch the trout. Anglers under 17 years of age are not required to have a license or stamp. There is no minimum length limit for trout, but there is a daily bag limit of five.

There are several other local parks in and around Dallas that have their lakes stocked too. One of my favorites is Kidd Springs Park off of Sylvan in Oak Cliff. I can be at work or at home and 15 minutes later be trout fishing. Can't beat that with a ten foot pole! Kidd Springs will be stocked with a total of 3,000 trout on January 9th and February 27th. Probably the best is Lakeside Park in Duncanville. It gets stocked more regularly and with bigger fish, I think.
Powerbait works great, but you can take the kids out and use corn to catch them just as effectively sometimes. There are also several Kid Fish events surrounding the stocking dates too, so it really can be fun for serious fishing folk and chillerins too.
Here is the URL for all the trout stocking dates all around Texas.

I wish they would stock Lake Tawakoni with WATER!! Well, I used to be able to fish from my own lake dock on Tawakoni, but now it has dried-up by a lot. See NBC 5 News at 6 and 10pm to see how bad it is here at my lake-house!

Hopefully the Spring time will bring you some good rain Russ. I know some folks who have a lake house on Cedar Creek and yeah, you buy one of those things to have access to the water and then guess what...you end up mowing the channel in the Summer months.
