DFW’s ‘Mission Reality” hopes to inspire through random acts of kindness

0

Mission Reality, an organization that typically spends its time aiding those in countries such as India and Kenya, announced today that they have decided to focus their attention on the Dallas-Fort Worth area this holiday season.

“As many of those in DFW and across the United States move into a holiday season that is overshadowed by some very tough economic times, we’re encouraging everyone to do just the opposite of what their instincts tell them, and that is to give,” said Tammy Lane, executive director of Mission Reality. “At the core, Americans are a very charitable group of people, but unfortunately most understand this as solely giving money, rather than giving time.”

“Many of those who we’ve worked with in foreign countries do not have the means to help each other, leaving us to do the work directly,” added Lane. “But in places like Dallas-Fort Worth, where most people have access to basic needs (such as food, water and shelter), we have the opportunity to start a movement that will surely have legs of its own.”

Starting Monday, December 8, people across the area will see members of Mission Reality stepping into checkout lines at Kroger to pick up tabs on groceries, delivering Christmas trees, handing out money to unsuspecting drivers in major intersections, and even giving out 1200 gifts on the 12th day.
