Ex-catering director from Fairmont Hotel joins Savor Dallas team
Tomas de la Mata, one of North Texas' most respected hotel and hospitality leaders, has joined the Savor Dallas 2009 team to help produce the upcoming International Grand Tasting event, slated for March 7.
Mr. de la Mata, who directed catering for Dallas' legendary Fairmont Hotel for more than 25 years, will assist the leadership of the international experience of wine, food, spirits and the arts, with wine and food events scheduled in several beautiful Downtown Dallas locations.
"We are delighted to have Tomas' expertise as we continue to develop the Savor Dallas program to make the event even more dynamic in its second year at the Plaza of the Americas and Westin City Center," said Jim White, Savor Dallas co-founder. "Tomas is the consummate host and understands how we can provide our guests with a comfortable, entertaining and always fresh experience. We've taken great care to provide them with the very best wine and food experience. Guests can expect even greater things at this year's event."
Mr. de la Mata served a 30-plus-year tenure with The Fairmont Hotel, responsible some of the city's and the region's highest-profile events. Prior to directing catering at The Fairmont, he was director of catering for the Anatole Hotel. He started his stellar career in his native Spain, at hospitality destinations in Madrid and Vitoria. He came to the United States in the 1960s with the World's Fair in New York, and led teams at other elegant hotels in Montreal, San Antonio, St. Louis and New York.
