DALLAS This email went out to people on the mailing list of Perry's Restaurant:
As some of you may know, there is an unrelated restaurant in the Houston area that bears a name similar to our name. This restaurant is planning to come to Dallas. After incurring considerable expense, we decided to stop investing in litigation and utilize our resources in a manner that benefits you, our loyal guests. While we feel that the Houston restaurant cannot compare to our high levels of service and quality, at this point we have decided to change our name, but, not our identity.
We need your help! Where better to get input but from our valuable resource, our guests?
Please send in your idea for our new name to perrysguestservices@yahoo.com by December 19, 2008. The winning entrant will receive a complimentary dinner for 6 people ($750 value). The winner will be notified via email by December 27, 2008.
Good luck to everyone!
Sincerely,
Amie Bergus, Travis Henderson II, Clay Bergus, Larry Townsend, Matt Bottoms
I guess if it worked for Wolfgang Puck, it can work for Perry's?
Perry's from Houston -- that would be this Perry's:
From a stand-alone butcher shop in Southeast Houston, Perry's Restaurant Group has expanded over 27 years to include eight locations Houston-wide, including two dine-in butcher shops, five Steakhouse & Grilles, and an Italian Grille. Perry's is family-owned and managed by President and CEO, Chris Perry.
A spokeswoman at the Perry's Houston headquarters says they are planning on opening a Dallas branch but are still deciding on location.
Heaven knows it's hard to come up with a good restaurant name but you'd think the Dallas Perry's people might've done a cursory search before naming their place the same as a well known, not-dissimilar steakhousey type concept in nearby Houston. On the other hand, it's good they're taking this pro-active step. And the upside is, now they're getting stories written about them on prestigious Pegasus News.
Thanks to David Denney for tip!

I've never been to the Perry's in Dallas and actually had previously assumed it was the same Perry's as the one in Houston. Fascinating.
