Downtown restaurant Fuse offers more casual, lower-priced items
DALLAS With the success of its new "Casual" Dining menu section launched in October, Fuse expands the concept, offering flavorful dishes that are high in quality and low in price. Executive Chef Robbie Lewis and restaurateur Russell Hayward created the menu to ensure that Fuse is a neighborhood gem, offering a wide range of Tex-Asian cuisine for either a quick bite after work or the special occasion that deserves lobster.
The "Casual" Dining section features dishes priced between $10 - $14, such as the new Teriyaki Beef Burger, Wasabi Crispy Chicken with buttery mashers and jalapeno gravy, and "Steak and Eggs" Fried Rice, a marinated tri tip, ginger soy fried rice and over-easy egg. In addition, the Fuse menu now features Tuna-Crab Nachos and Cornmeal Crusted Calamari as appetizers and Caesar and Togarashi Tuna salads. Laksa Salmon, made with shrimp broth, cilantro, laksa leaves and vermicelli noodles, joins such entrees as Miso Lobster and Tenderloin of Beef.

Their food is OK, but I think some of their items need work. A simple example would be their pickled ginger. When I was there last Sunday, the ginger they served with sushi tasted as if the ginger flavor had been leeched out. It was still spicy, but not one that came from the ginger. And the horseradish sauce they serve with beef..a bit runny and not enough good horseradish kick for my taste. When I think horseradish, I think Inglehoffer's, not some Hidden Valley Ranch rendition.

"Fuse" and Russell Hayward means success. Period. Notice how they are now tweaking the menu to keep-up with the economic times and the changing demographics of Dallas. They are not just sitting idle, complaining, they are working it for success. Good stuff!

Man, are these food people slow to the times and vibes, while to get people to stay you have to throw somthing, or paint the walrus red and then give away new things, or somthing fun has to take place, an original, any rate this should come up and get on down, get the crowds back to town.....we know it is exspensive, but hey...make it fun...A/T, Downtown Observer.
