Chuck’s in Dallas becomes Chuck & Lucy’s, adds breakfast
DALLAS Chuck's in Dallas got a new sign and a name change: welcome Chuck & Lucy's.
"Lucy was my aunt, and she was killed in the Holocaust, so we’re remembering her in that way," says owner Rachel Schiff, who took over the restaurant in September 2007.
She says it's the same menu, but that she took the opportunity to change the name after the sign recently fell off.
"Chuck was not real good about fixing anything," Schiff says. "But it was my intention to do the name anyway and I decided to do it after the sign fell off due to a high wind."
Since she took over, she's inched back the opening time to 10 a.m. and is serving breakfast with eggs, bacon, homemade hash browns, pancakes, and French toast.

I hadn't been to a Chucks in probably a year, so I decided to go to the one in Carrollton. It is not what I remembered. And the one in Plano is closed.

We've been to Chuck and Lucy's several times for burgers, and we've always been pleased. Today we decided to try breakfast. We were told to get ready for a big breakfast when we ordered. 45 minutes later we were still waiting for our order when the lady behind the counter came over and told us they had run out of eggs, but they had sent someone to the store and our breakfast would arrive soon. She also brought out some small pancakes (we thought they had chocolate chips at first, but it was just the scrapings from the grill) as an apology and told us to prepare for a feast. The pancakes had the taste and consistency of glue. We decided to wait for our meal in spite of this. When our order finally arrived our "feast" consisted of small poorly scrambled eggs (undercooked and easily separated into the whites and yolks), two tiny strips of bacon (apparently the cheap brand that shrinks drastically when cooked), and a small order of fairly tasteless hashbrowns. We won't be going back.

Both times I've been to Chuck's (Chuck & Lucy's), they have been bad experiences. Long waits for food/shakes and very subpar food for the price you pay, and my last experience there (5/30/09), I was treated VERY rudely by an employee there. I certainly will not be eating there again, and I strongly encourage others to be cautious before heading there.
