Dallas Cowboys 20, New York Giants 8

Dallas' playoff hopes stay alive as they take down the NFC

The Dallas Cowboys remain in the playoff hunt with a victory against the New York Giants on Sunday evening at Texas Stadium. The Giants' NFC East title was clinched when Dallas lost to Pittsburgh last week, but they're now in the midst of a two-game losing streak.

The Giants have a lot to think about after their last two dismal performances.
The Giants have a lot to think about after their last two dismal performances.

Following a scoreless first quarter, Dallas got on the board first halfway through the second when Tony Romo found Patrick Crayton for a 34-yard touchdown. With under five minutes left in the first half, New York completed a field goal, putting the score at 7-3 into the locker room.

The third quarter was fairly quiet, score-wise, but Dallas tallied seven more with 12 minutes to go in the fourth, on a one-yard pass to Deon Anderson. Despite a few foibles later on, including getting sacked in their own end zone, the Cowboys ran away with the 20-8 win. Romo threw 20-for-30 for 244 yards while Manning threw two interceptions and under 200 yards.

The Cowboys can assure a playoff spot if they win their next two games, but the road ahead isn't simple. They'll have to get past Baltimore (9-5-0) at home and Philadelphia (7-5-1) on the road.

Travis Bush, says:

Still way too many penalties. Maybe it is about time for Flozell to say farewell.

Travis Bush, says:

Yeah, I agree about the calls, but doesn't Flozell have the most penalties on the team and maybe even in the league this season?

Scott Doyle, says:

Well, the Cowboys as a team have <a href="http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/sortableStatsTeam?div=NFL&amp;stype=offense&amp;stable=downs&amp;stat=penTot&amp;dir=descending&amp;season=regular">the most penalties</a> in the league with 105...averaging 7.5 per game. Having a tough time tracking down individual player rankings for penalties, though.

James Scott, says:

Yeah Travis, they did mention something like that on the broadcast last night - like he has the most penalties of any other player in the league in the last x number of years (can't remember x, but it was more than 2 or 3).

Flozell is still one of the best LOTs in the game, even with the penalties. Would you rather have 1 or possibly 2 penalties, or 3 sacks and 4 or 5 hurries like the guy trying to stop Demarcus Ware gave up?

Scott Doyle, says:

Depends on the QB. =p Romo looks like he'd be a better runner than he's shown...

Travis Bush, says:

1 or possibly 2? You can count on Adams to get at least 1 or 2 per game and not just false starts. And naturally the offense has quite a few problems, but the penalties only make it worse. As much as Romo, Whitten and T.O were playing nice after the game, there seems to still be some communication problems with routes.

James Scott, says:

Maybe that play where the gave up the safety was the line making sure not to get a false start - you know, just don't move before or after the ball is snapped?
