TWU student selected as American Association of University Women Fellow
Priyanka Kapoor, a master of occupational therapy student at Texas Woman's University’s Dallas Center, is one of only 75 university women in the world to be selected as an International Masters Fellow by the American Association of University Women (AAUW).
Ms. Kapoor was selected from more than 1,000 applicants for the fellowship, which provides an $18,000 stipend for one year. Recipients are selected based on academic achievement and demonstrated commitment to women and girls.
“This fellowship is not only of a financial assistance to me, but most importantly, a means to connect with females around the globe who are working toward a common goal of promoting female equality,” Ms. Kapoor said.
After graduation, she plans to return to her home country of India to promote the inclusion and rights of people with disabilities, especially young girls. These goals, she said, “will be achieved with the quality tools and global perspective I will gain through my education at TWU.”

Something about that headline cracks me up.

Erin Rice, says:
Pray tell, Pavel. Is it because the word "fellow" immediately follows "women?" I'm curious to know why, though I fear even such a brief glance into how your brain works.

I just it amusing that a word that (as far as I know) started off being exclusively masculine is now being used by a woman's organization to label a woman. Har har, English is a language full of vaguely sexist nuances.
