Rowlett announces employees of the year at holiday luncheon

— The city of Rowlett announced its employees of the year at a holiday luncheon on Friday, December 12 and honored those with special tenure dates.

Those recognized were: Jennifer Darisse, Payroll, Administrative Employee of the Year; Michael Godfrey, Police Department, Public Safety Employee of the Year; Bob Hewitt, Parks Department, Public Service Employee of the Year; and Don Poovey, Interim Fire Chief, Supervisor of the Year.

These individuals were selected by secret ballot by their peers and were not aware of their new titles until the luncheon.

Others recognized at the holiday luncheon included employees celebrating their first year with the City and those with 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 years of service with the City of Rowlett.

Debbie Grimes, Finance, holds the top spot of tenure with 25 years of service to the City of Rowlett. Following a close five years behind with 20 years were: David Hewitt, Parks, and Paul Allison, Public Works.

Those with 15 years included: Allyson Wilson, Finance; Chad McLerran, Fire; Charles Hoff, Police; Eric Zimmerman, Fire; Jim Ford, Police; and Sean Fay, Fire.

The one employee who celebrated 10 years was Loraine Gadbury, Police. Those with 5 years included Heath Olinger, Parks; Gaynell Sherman, Library; Stacy Chadwick, City Secretary’s office; William Ashberry, Public Works; and Jerry Works, Public Works.

Those marking their first completed year with the City included Amy Delaisse, Action Center; Jana Lemon, Action Center; Erin Jones, Development Services; and Jerrald Woodruff, Development Services.

Employees also honored George Harris, Fire Chief, for his dedicated service as Interim City Manager since May of this year.
