Shooting death of North Dallas mother, two children leaves lots of questions unanswered

4

Delving into the circumstances surrounding the tragic shooting deaths of a North Dallas real estate broker / mom and her two children is like perusing the story idea notebook of a crime thriller novelist: all the plot elements haven't quite come together yet.

Jeanmarie Tolle Geis, 49, was found shot to death in her home in the 7200 block of Blairview Dr., along with Matthew, 8, and Sydney, 4 on Friday (Dec. 19).

From that point the backstory becomes really, really weird, involving Ms. Geis' earlier reports of a home invasion and assault against her and her husband, threats stemming from her father's (District Judge Mark Stenton Tolle's) criminal cases and a dating relationship that Ms. Geis was engaged in with a neighbor.

Frank Geis, Jeanmarie's husband, was at the doctor's office when the shootings took place, according to police.

News this morning says police aren't "ruling out" a murder-suicide by the mother, and implies that the police are now looking at whether the previous attacks were staged.

This tragic story points to a possible antidepressant link because of the bizarre nature of the case.

Go to www.SSRIstories.com where there are over 2,700 cases, with the full media article available, involving bizarre murders, suicides, school shootings [47 of these] and murder-suicides - all of which involve SSRI antidepressants like Prozac, Zoloft, Paxil, etc, . The media article usually tells which SSRI antidepressant the perpetrator was taking.

Hmmm. Are you, perhaps, a Scientologist, Rosiecee?

I didn't examine the site on the link. Further, I'm not a scientologist, and I'm not opposed to the judicious use of antidepressants. I've seen quality of life improved for a number of people by finding the right antidepressant medication. However, they are powerful drugs which act differently in different people and which are given with very little supervision. Family doctors often prescribe these drugs with no education about them and counseling as only a recommendation, then rely on the patient to self-report relative to side effects. These drugs could be a factor. Or the illness was a cause, and they hadn't yet found the right treament. We'll never know.

The entire thing is a tragedy all around: for the victims, for his family and friends, for him. It is such a tremendous tragedy that it is absolutely appropriate to examine every single factor that contributed to this in order that, hopefully, a future tragedy with the same root cause can be averted.

My sincere condolences to everyone personally touched by this.
