Cedar Hill infant dead, father implicated
A 3-month-old Cedar Hill girl died at Children’s Medical Center Friday, prompting police to arrest her father and charge him with her murder. Police say the parents of Melinda Daniels called for help Tuesday, saying the baby was not breathing.
Police arrested Melvin Daniels, 46, and initially charged him with injury to a child. After Melinda’s death, they rearrested Melvin Daniels and upgraded the charge to capital murder. He is being held in jail on a $1 million bond. The medical examiner’s office is still conducting tests to determine the cause of death.
