Dallas Commissioners Court may reconsider condom distribution ban

In light of the rising number of Dallas Country residents living with AIDS and HIV, the Dallas Commissioners Court may reconsider reconsidering the 1995 condom distribution ban. The ban prohibited county health workers from entering neighborhoods and handing out condoms and clean needles.

In 2006 and 2007, Dallas County had the highest HIV rate in the state. John Wiley Price, who voted against the ban 13 years ago, brought it up at a recent meeting. Though Price is supported by Judge Jim Foster, two Republicans on the Court voted for the ban previously.
