Dallas Stars forward Loui Eriksson was named the NHL's first star for the week ending Dec. 21 after scoring a league-high six goals in three games.

Eriksson scored both goals in the Stars' 2-1 overtime win over Phoenix on Tuesday, had a hat trick in the team's 6-5 shootout win over Columbus on Thursday and added a goal in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss in Ottawa on Saturday.

At one point he had scored five goals in a row for the team, becoming only the second player in franchise history to accomplish the feat.

Philadelphia's Jeff Carter was named the second star, and New Jersey's Patrik Elias was the third star.

Heading into Monday's games Eriksson was tied for 5th in the league with 18 goals. He and Chicago forward Patrick Sharp were tied for the league among players in the Western Conference. Eriksson led all NHL players with 16 even strength goals heading into Monday's games.
