Texas-based ENVY Magazine has new owner-publisher-CEO

11

ENVY Magazine, the premier lifestyle magazine in Texas, announced Shane Long has purchased the publication and will serve as chief executive officer and publisher, effective immediately. ENVY is currently available to readers in Dallas, Houston and Austin and in the next year the publication plans to expand into San Antonio, as well as outside of the state.

An energetic and innovative leader with a longtime interest in publishing, Long brings to ENVY nearly two decades of experience in the semiconductor, computer, and wireless segments working with leading companies throughout Asia, Europe, and North America.

Known as a visionary leader, serial entrepreneur and strategic thinker, Long will implement the publication's goals of aggressive expansion in Texas, as well as in other states and markets. He will also oversee exploring and expanding ENVY into the broadcast arena with the numerous television and radio opportunities available within the various markets. With his career expertise, Long will lead ENVY in identifying profitable markets, establishing sales and channel structures and developing effective marketing strategies.

"I am truly excited about the future of ENVY," said Shane Long, chief executive officer and publisher of ENVY Magazine. "We have a publication that has the mind and dedication of our readers, national coverage of celebrities and culture, yet with a slant towards our individual markets. ENVY will be known as the premier guide in our current markets and grow into a national product."

Most recently, Long held the position of president and CEO of GSCS which was named one of the Top 10 fastest growing companies in Dallas by the Dallas Business Journal and SMU Cox School of Business in 2008. He also served as president and CEO of Bitboys a gaming 3-D processor company, which was acquired by ATI/AMD in 2006 for more than $40 million.

The release doesn't say where previous publisher Eric Falberg went, nor previous CEO Gregg Falberg.

Teresa Gubbins, says:

wait a minute, CitizenKane and chris danger -- are you saying that you are not also truly excited about the future of ENVY, just like that visionary leader, serial entrepreneur, and strategic thinker Shane Long?

I don't know the guy personally but, as i read this release [and i confess that i'm the one who posted it, last night, late, because i was desperate to put something fresh into the Business section but since it is the holidays and we are all working on big year-end pieces and don't always have the time to go out and report on Business stories ourselves, i figured a hack press release was at least slightly better than a 2-day-old story, though perhaps that assumption was wrong?], i thought to myself, ohmygosh, this Shane Long appears to be a god who walks among us! i mean, how many people do you know have nearly two decades of experience in the semiconductor, computer, and wireless segments working with leading companies throughout Asia, Europe, and North America? and if nothing else, there's his name - Shane Long. it simply reeks "magnificent"!

i don't want to jump to any conclusions here but if i didn't know you both so well already, i might wonder if maybe you were a teensy bit jealous? jealous of this former president and CEO of Bitboys which i will have you know was acquired by ATI/AMD in 2006 for more than $40 million!

anyway, as always, appreciate your input, and i know you'll want to keep an eye out on the year-end wrap-up we'll be posting in the next week or so of all the great Business <del>press releases</del> stories that have appeared on <em>Pegasus News</em> in 2008

John Meyer, says:

<p>Be that as it may, here's what Paul Salfen, Editor-in-Chief of Envy Pubs, has to say about the new boss:</p>

<p>"Shane is very hands on in his approach, so he's in the office every day hammering out all of the day to day issues with us, whereas our last owners were in Chicago and it was harder for them to get a full grasp of what was going on in each office.</p>

<p>"He has a huge vision for the magazine and I think you'll start to see some immediate changes for the better. We're really happy to have him with us. You can expect another exciting announcement next month."</p>

Russ Vandeveerdonk, says:

Sounds great for us and ENVY Mag., they actually post pictures of parties and events that took place only 30 days prior to publication. Unlike the old D Mag's six months or longer pics from Dallas events and all those paid ads/stories.

Russ Vandeveerdonk, says:

I disagree, DALLAS will be changing by February and into March. So will the rest of the USA economy. ENVY will be concrete and steadfast with good stuff to report, IN MY opinion.
