Pegasus News week in view: ‘Twas the night edition
'Tis the day before Christmas and we're sending you our weekly greeting card a little early. Once you're sick of your relatives and looking for something to do, we've got you covered, especially if you're looking for New Year's festivities. We'll be running on a skeleton crew over the holidays, but have lined up an annual best-of to lead each day going into the New Year. There'll also be a special bonus edition of the newsletter on Monday to help you plan your New Year's Eve-ning.
Metro: Our community seemed to like the idea that pet theft could be made a state felony ... Capitol Annex told us that the Federales say we have to get our house in order vis a vis English as a Second Language education ... Shawn Williams told us that Eddie Bernice Johnson isn't a fan of the Inland Port or of John Wiley Price and that Dallas NAACP President Casey Thomas is running for City Council ... Michael Davis isn't happy about bar proliferation on South Lamar ... Condoms may soon be in wider supply in Dallas County ... Could the Madoff scandal hamper DNA exonerations?
Artsy: John Garcia reviewed The SantaLand Diaries and A Bur-Less-Q Nutcracker ... Reading & Radio Resource explored Christmas traditions around the world.
Weekend planner
Flix: Alamo Drafthouse is coming to town ... We've already got a review of The Spirit and as the week goes on, look for reviews of Benjamin Button, The Reader, Gran Torino, Marley & Me and Bedtime Stories.
Music: See how our content partners helped cover the scene this year, in the first of our 2008 roundups.
Best Bites: ... covered a new member of the Los Lupes family; a new Mediterranean buffet; and the Rizos' family's new Interwebs cafe. (But The Lodge still has free WiFi, right?) ... Teresa remembered former DMN critic Waltrina Stovall, who died Tuesday ... N9NE Steakhouse has a new top chef.
Game: College Football Top Ten named its All-DFW College Football Team ... West and Clear remembered Rangers pitcher and LSD user Dock Ellis ... The (probably) final game at Texas Stadium was a bit of a letdown. At least Tony will have a nice Christmas dinner ... The Stars had a decent week as Loui Eriksson was named the NHL's first star ... Grits for Breakfast has a moving tale about Grapevine fans making a game special for their opponents from TYC's Gainesville unit.
Bidness: Has the auto dealer shakeout begun? ... Brinker dumped Macaroni Grill ... The Dallas Regional Chamber has a new president.

- Or, if you prefer things twangy, catch Eleven Hundred Springs with Americana critic's darling Hayes Carll and Doug Moreland at the HOB.
