Plano man catches radar detector thieves via Craigslist
A Plano man walked out to his car Christmas Eve to find a shattered window and his radar detector stolen. He filed a police report but then decided to take matters into his own hands. He looked on Craigslist.org for a radar detector and found a match. The seller even said they did not have a box. The man then called police and asked them to show up at the North Dallas meeting spot saying there may be an altercation. When everyone showed up, the police checked the serial number of the radar detector and it matched up. The two men selling the device were arrested. The lesson of this story: keep a record of all your serial numbers.
