King Tut exhibit at Dallas Museum of Art not selling as many tickets as expected
DALLAS The "Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs" exhibit at the Dallas Museum of Art appears to be a bit of a bust, with ticket sales not meeting the museum's expectations.
Promoters expected possibly a million tickets sold; so far in the three months it's been on, it's drawn only about 270,000 visitors. They're blaming the economy and not the fact that people aren't that interested in seeing a little gold statue.

Collin Gouldin, says:
I blame the lack of the death mask in the exhibit. You know, the one that is on ALL of the advertisements ...

That is what I was saying all along, I go down there everyday and what do I see a death mask exibit...poor timming and maybe bad karma, leave old Tut alone and let him get some sleep...besides, there are other Mummies out there who have lived alot more interms of High Egyptian culture then Tut, besides he was a kid....A/T, Tut And no Butts about his poor audience.

i've heard the exhibit is just not that great, doesn't live up to the hype. As Collin says, no death mask, no sarcophagus, just disappointing. I think if the buzz was that the exhibit was actually good, they wouldn't be seeing this lack of interest.
Having said that, I still on making my way there sometime before it's gone, but not really expecting much out of it.

It is Dallas again entering into the 21st Century of hype....When Cathrine The Great came to Fair Park in the 90s, I was bit by that hype, while I used to work in the business of setting these things up,
When are they going to just open up that old Dallas Fire Station up, Cost only 5 bucks, even if it is hokey, it aint hype, and even if Andy Griffith and Barney Fife show up...glamor and the homespun dont mix well, oh well back to Ft Worth Museums...A/T, Conasewer of Museums.

Probably because they moved the ANUBIS STATUE to DFW Airport. :)
ASIDE--I saw the TUT exhibit here in Dallas in 1979, same stuff, just 29 years ago. It was "hyped" back then, even a song about it was on the radios's Top 40. The whole thing was kinda cool back then, just not anymore.
