Brut Champagne Bar on Mockingbird in Dallas will close after New Year’s Eve
Owner blames that whipping post of a reason, the economy.
DALLAS Brut, the champagne bar by Hotel Palomar on Mockingbird Lane in Dallas, is closing after New Year's Eve. Owner Ildefonso Jimenez, who also closed tapas bar Hola in March, blames everyone's favorite whipping boy, the economy, on the fact that people didn't want to come in and buy bottles anymore, though some might say that a business that dedicated itself to one item, and especially an item as closely identified with seasonal celebrations -- such as champagne -- was doomed to begin with. And this is coming from someone who consumes champagne on a regular basis, not just at holidays.
