Artisan Center Theater will present the North Texas Premiere of I Love A Piano from January 2 – January 31. It is a memorable musical journey spanning seven decades of American history as seen through the eyes of Irving Berlin – a man who Jerome Kern described by saying “Irving Berlin has no place in American music ... He IS American Music!” Reservations are strongly recommended, and can be made by calling 817-284-1200.

Using 64 of Berlin's popular favorites, I Love A Piano captures the spirit of American from the ragtime rhythms of the early 1900's, through the swinging 1920's and 30's and the sentimental songs that inspired a nation during two World Wars, right into all of the optimism of the 1950's. This musical revue is a shot of vibrant good spirits set to some of the most popular songs of all time.

The songs tie together vignettes of the great events of the American Century by centering around a piano made in 1910; in music stores, music halls, and even down and out on the street, the piano (despite its one broken note) leads a triumphant career that finds six recurring characters crowding around for songs of good cheer and sturdy resolution even in the darkest of times.

It features such songs as: “Blue Skies,” “I've Got My Love to Keep Me Warm,” “Russian Lullaby,” “Cheek to Cheek,” “This is the Army,” “White Christmas,” “God Bless America,” “We're just a Couple of Swells,” “Easter Parade,” “Anything You Can Do,” “You're Just in Love,” and many others.
