ROWLETT Neighborhood revitalization, economic development, and utility rates will top the list of discussions with the Mayor and several council members at a special Town Hall Meeting on Thursday, February 7 at 7 p.m. in the Rowlett Community Centre, 3900 Main Street.
Mayor John Harper, Mayor Pro Tem Cindy Rushing and Deputy Mayor Pro Tem Todd Gottel will be hosting the Town Hall meeting which is designed to be an informal setting with members of the City Council allowing citizens to freely and informally speak to them about what’s going on in the City of Rowlett.
"This meeting is a chance for the citizens to come and speak to us in a very casual setting about their concerns, suggestions and hopes for the future of our city,” said Mayor John Harper. “Most of the time, we are face to face with our citizens in a very formal public setting and we don’t get a chance to just sit down, converse freely and just get to know one another."
Some of the discussions will include the city’s upcoming push in neighborhood revitalization, code enforcement and the formation of Public Improvement Districts in Rowlett.
"We not only will hear residents’ concerns, but we will have a chance to inform the public our goals and objectives for the future of Rowlett," Mayor Harper said. "We will also be able to let our citizens know about such topics as our aggressive plans for economic growth in Rowlett and our attention to neighborhood improvements and utility rates, just to name a few. I want everyone to come, bring their families, and get ready for a few hours of 'getting to know us'."
Citizens are encouraged to contact the Mayor prior to the meeting with topics they plan to discuss with the council members so that they can bring the appropriate materials. Those requests may be sent to mayor@rowlett.com.
Information will be available and several brief presentations will be given addressing the city’s neighborhood revitalization efforts, economic development activities, and utility rates. Progress information on the DART light rail and the President George Bush Turnpike progress will also be available as well as a City display providing photos and updates on the capital improvement projects now underway throughout the city.
Project displays will be available for public viewing and city staff will be present to answer questions. All Rowlett residents and business citizens are encouraged to attend.
