Dallas’ Victory Park area had big crowd on Saturday night for Mardi Gras, yippee-yi-yay, hoo ha etc.
The coolest thing about Saturday night's Mardi Gras celebration at Victory Park is that the estimated crowd of 35,000 that exceeded organizers' expectations required calling in a SWAT unit. Dallas police made five arrests. The event included a parade, tossing of cheap beads, a street festival, and live music, as well as inane quotes from WFAA -- typos included -- such as the attendee who said "I couldn't be in New Orleans, so I'm really happy New Oreleans [sic] came to me."

Success, too, is in the beholder's eye. I suppose for Dallas a good party is calling out the cops, dropping a few arrests and if necessary using the special weapons.
I decided not to go when I found out it wasn't the "Shake Ya Ass" guy...
