DALLAS Henriot Imports and Republic National Distributing Company in collaboration with Nove Italiano will host a Tenuta di Ghizzano Wine Dinner led by Countess Ginevra Venerosi Pesciolini whose family arrived at the small Ghizzano hillside hamlet towards the end of the 14th century.
The 865-acre estate, located in the northwestern part of Tuscany between Florence and Pisa, is prosperous with olive and wine groves, producing few bottles but choice ones. The five-course wine dinner will be held on Thursday, February 7 at 7:00 pm for $100 per person (not including tax and gratuity). Reservations are required by calling 214.720.9903.
Bruschetta & Crostini: Sea Urchin, Salt Cod, Wild Mushroom, with Henriot, “Souverain Brut” Champagne NV
Duck, Duck, Goose: Roast Breast, Confit Leg, Grilled Foie Gras Mascarpone Polenta, Preserved Cherries, with Tenuta di Ghizzano, “Il Ghizzano” Sangiovese/Merlot 2005
Saltimbocca: Tenderloin of Texas Wild Boar, Sage Scented Potatoes, Prosciutto, with Tenuita di Ghizzano, “Veneroso” Sangiovese/Cabernet Sauvignon 2001
Steak n’ Eggs: Grilled Prime New York Sirloin, Black Truffle Torta Salata, Black Trumpet Mushrooms, with Tenuta di Ghizzano, “Nambrot” Merlot/Cabernet Sauvignon/Petit Verdot 2003
Dolce di Miele: Italian Honey Cake, Pineapple, Vanilla Gelato with Tenuta do Ghizzano, “San Germano” Vin Santo 2001.
UPDATE: The Countess, she is a fickle gal. She'll also be consorting with the folks at Jimmy's Food Store on Friday in the "circolo del vino" at a wine tasting, with a light menu of antipasti.
