Uptown Players is presenting a Texas premiere next week, so now is the time to get your tickets. The rock opera, bare, opens February 15 and runs until March 16. Tickets are available online or by calling 214-219-2718.

With a book by Jon Hartmere and Damon Intrabartolo, music by Damon Intrabartolo, and lyrics by Jon Hartmere, bare is much like the current Broadway hit Spring Awakening since it "pulses with an energy and heartache which supersedes all boundaries." Set in a Catholic boarding school, the show centers on a group of friends during their senior year. Altar boy Peter is in love with his roommate Jason, one of the most popular kids in school. They are carrying on a closeted romance but Peter wants to go public with their affair. Jason isn't so keen on the idea, as he feels that his entire world would crumble if word of the relationship got out.

Things get more complicated when Ivy makes a play for Jason. Her rejected suitor Matt discovers the secret that Peter and Jason have been keeping and it's only a matter of time before things start to spin out of control.

The show is directed by Cheryl Denson, with choreography by Vicki Squires and music direction by Adam Wright. The cast features Sean Patrick Henry, Joshua Doss, Darius Robinson, Kayla Carlyle, Beth Albright, Charnelle Bratton, Tyler Donahue, Clayton Farris, Amber Guest, Hannah Guillory, Natalie King, Jeff Kinman, Sara Shelby-Martin, Clayton Younkin, and Liz Woodcock.

Here is a nice clip featuring songs from the show and an interview with Damon Intrabartolo:

GWAR / Kingdom of Sorrow / Toxic Holocaust Only lead singer Oderus Urungus (aka Dave Brockie) has stuck around since GWAR's start 23 years ago, but the huge costumes, raunchy and obscene lyrics, and fluids spraying into the audience are sure to be on full display as the metal band makes its return to Dallas.
