ONSTAGE in Bedford kicks off 2008 season with La Cage Aux Folles this week

ONSTAGE in Bedford is getting ready to open their new season entitled "Picture This - A Celebration of Love." La Cage Aux Folles, which means "The Birdcage," is opening February 8 and running until February 23. Showtimes are Fridays and Saturdays at 8:00 p.m. and a Saturday matinee performances at 2:00 p.m. However, with the Love Holiday right in the middle of their run, they have added a special Thursday night performance on February 14.
The musical comedy is based on the 1973 French play by Jean Poiret and the subsequent 1978 French-Italian screen version. It focuses on a gay couple: Georges, the manager of a Saint-Tropez nightclub featuring drag entertainment, and Albin, his star attraction, and the adventures that ensue when Georges’ son brings home his fiancée’s ultra-conservative parents to meet them. The show's book is by Harvey Fierstein with lyrics and music by Jerry Herman.
