Arlington police arrest three in arson of Discount Food Mart

ARLINGTON — Arlington police have arrested three suspects and charged them in the January 8, 2008 arson of the Discount Food Mart and Grill at 2020 Mansfield Webb Road in Arlington. 17-year-old Ahmad Bayazid of Arlington is being held in the Arlington Jail on charges of arson, prohibited weapon and engaging in organized crime. Bayazid’s bond has been set at $75,000.00. Motaz Amreya, age 29 and Ibrahim Owhib, age 27, are being held on federal charges.
At about 1:00am on Tuesday, January 8, 2008 a fire was reported at 2020 Mansfield Webb Road. The fire caused fire and smoke damage to several of the businesses. Molotov Cocktails and gas cans were located at the scene. Arson Investigator Darin Niederhaus and ATF Investigators developed suspects from physical evidence at the scene and video images from security cameras. Motaz Amreva, who is the owner of the Discount Food Mart and Grill, and two of his store clerks, Ibrahim Owhib and Ahmad Bayazid, were seen on video preparing the Molotov Cocktails and pouring gasoline in the business.
Because Bayazid is 17 years old, he will be adjudicated under Texas statutes.
