Super tight Tuesday means Texas primary could get some (Democratic) candidate attention
Despite failed efforts to push our presidential primaries to February 5, Texas may still be a key state. Many were worried that by March 4, the races would have been decided, and that lone star voters would once again play little role in the nomination process. But the tight race between Clinton and Obama will mean that Texas, a state whose Democratic base is growing, will join Ohio as a key state to win come March.
Clinton grabbed many of the larger coastal states like California, New York, and the surprise, Massachusetts, as well as her home state of Arkansas. Obama, however, scooped up several Midwest states, Georgia, Connecticut, Delaware, and the always important, Alaska. Both campaigns admit that when the final results are tallied, it's unlikely either candidate will be able to claim a clear victory. The two will push to win as many of Texas' 228 Democratic delegates as possible.
On the Republican side, there is less fervor, as John McCain was able to claim a clear victory in yesterday's contests. He is 300 delegates ahead of his nearest rival, Mitt Romney. Behind both of them is Mike Huckabee, probably telling a joke on the outside, but crying on the inside. Texas Republicans will get to voice their support or distaste for the front runner on March 4, but are less likely to affect their party's eventual nomination.

Is it just me, or does John McCain's desperate lust for the nomination remind anybody else of Golem from Lord of the Rings? Prescioussssss, myyyyy presciousssss.
Still it might be kind of fun to vote Huckabee or Paul to drag this out and diminish McCains resources. I'd like to see his little wood chuck cheeks explode as he strokes out over being denied the gold ring here in Texas!
