Happy Valentine’s Day - and have some delicious insect parts!

Just another reason to dislike (or at least to ignore as much as feasible) investigative journalists:

This report from Bennett Cunningham provides details of what Armstrong Forensic Lab folks found in the melted chocolate samples that his investigative team bought across the counter at various local confectioners. You might not want to read any further, unless your dietary habits are more cosmopolitan than most - or you have an iron stomach.

We're talking human hair and insect parts, along with a sprinkling of metallic glitter, the odd cat hair and an occasional clothing fiber, all spotted under microscopic analysis.

The chocolates sampled came from sealed retail packaging branded under the names of Godiva, Russell Stovers, Whitmans, Choxie (that tony Target brand) and Joseph Schmidt.

Thank God they didn't take a close look at what ends up in my bag of Fritos - it's a cinch (or maybe a chinch) I never will.

I like my valetine's day candy to be made out of earwig honey and bone meal, the traditional - as well as romantic - formula that made candy hearts great.

I think Bennett Cunninngghhamm must have been carrying those candies around in his pockets before sending them to the lab.

The only thing that bothers me is that I don't normally like to mix my human hair with cat hair, but hey, it's a holiday.
