Hotel ZaZa's 17 themed concept suites transform an otherwise elegantly-appointed room into a land far away, or a fantasy come to life. They are introducing three new and improved concept suites – Opium, Shag-a-delic and Moulin Rouge.
Opium
Step back in time to the land of palm-treed oases, sand-dune horizons and air perfumed with spices. Opium brings the spirit of 1,001 Arabian Nights indoors through a sensory experience heavy with Persian accents. Upon entering the Opium suite, guests pass by an old-fashioned bellows, once used for keeping fires alive during cool desert evenings.
Neutral-toned walls offset dark crown molding, tall, gold-and-black embroidered curtains and modern replicas of brass-and-bejeweled Marrakesh lanterns. The patchwork of Persian rugs covering the suite’s floor lends an added texture, buttressed by the wooden and tapestry-tufted furniture. The suite’s king-sized bed, set in a wood frame, is finished with an ornate, hand-carved wooden headboard, inset with a sculpted mirror. A large, carved wooden trunk at the foot of the bed gives the Opium suite a sense of wanderlust, as if the next adventure is just a dream away.
An arched, velvet and black leather banquette sits invitingly across from the bed, while a wooden desk, a dark wood vanity, oversized velvet pillows and a decorative, tasseled ottoman appear lush and warm under the room’s soft lighting. The bathroom continues Opium’s theme, with the room covered in mirrors and paisley wallpaper, and a large Buddha’s head residing directly below the sink. Step into Opium and inhale the beauty of the past while experiencing the present.
Shag-a-delic
It’s a mod, mod world in the swinging Shag-a-delic suite. Bringing only the very best from the super sexy ‘60s, this suite is a psychedelic time warp back to an era when free love and hippie chic reigned supreme.
Painted a lush lime green, the walls are adorned with bright art deco pieces and framed posters of the Man of Mystery himself: Austin “Danger” Powers. Plush shag carpeting, hued a deep purple, along with the fuchsia crushed-velvet bed skirt and curtains help set the mood for some risqué business. A padded navy headboard and a silver-gilded mirror garnish the suite’s king-sized bed.
A round, black futon occupies a corner, beset by a bevy of oversized, plump pillows, each one a different color, pattern and texture. Behind the futon, a cluster of lava lamps casts a soft glow over the suite, while a retro disco ball hangs overhead. A hot-pink chaise lounge accompanies a giraffe-print bean bag chair and a polished-chrome-and-glass table and chairs set. Further mod influences are found in the sleek, green-glass bedside table lamps and the white, 3-globe lamp across the room.
The fun continues in the bathroom, where bright, warm wallpaper lends plenty of retro inspiration. A marble bath, complimentary bathroom amenities and a pair of soft spa robes make a tub for two downright groovy. Oh, behave!
Moulin Rouge
Step into the Moulin Rouge suite and enter a realm where Parisian boudoirs and closed doors were the height of titillation. Sophisticated, ornate and very intimate, the Moulin Rouge paints a picture of subdued sensuality and hedonism.
A leopard carpet runs the breadth of the suite, surrounded by warm, mustard-hued walls and full-length, velvet brocade curtains. A gilded credenza, inlaid with soft, romantic paintings, faces a king-sized bed with a lush gold spread and a gilded, upholstered brocade head board. A marble coffee table matches a marble armoire in the sitting area, joined by an ornate wooden desk set topped with a pair of silver lamps. The sitting area – perfect for an impromptu gathering for two – may be partitioned off from the bedroom via a set of velvet, brocade curtains. Opposite the bed, a blue velvet accent chair offers a cozy seat, while the suite’s walls feature an assortment of French masks, posters and prints, including a framed Moulin Rouge scene, helping transport guests back to Paris’ Victorian heyday.
Crystal chandeliers and soft accent lighting maintain a sultry glow, which extends into the bathroom. Colorful French toile and a black granite and marble floor surround a marble-tiled shower stall.
