For the second time in three weeks, Texas Wesleyan University’s Dane Dmitrovic has been selected as the Red River Athletic Conference men’s basketball player of the week. Dmitrovic shared the award with Texas College’s Czyz Bennett for the period of January 28 – February 3.

Dmitrovic, a sophomore forward from Vrhnika, Slovenia, registered a pair of double-doubles as the Rams split two conference contests. After scoring 11 points with 10 rebounds in a 66-61 loss to Jarvis Christian College (TX), he accounted for 17 points, a career-high 17 boards and seven assists en route to an 80-62 victory over Bacone College (OK). He was 10-of-21 from the field (47.6%) for the week. TWU is 8-2 in the RRAC and 15-8 overall.

Bennett, a junior guard from Galveston, TX, surpassed the 20-point mark twice as the Steers won two conference match-ups last week. He scored 23 points with four rebounds and four assists to defeat Wiley College (Texas), 77-74, and he added 28 points, three assists and three steals in a 92-80 win over Langston on Saturday. Texas College is 8-2 in conference action and 14-9 on the season.

After a win over Langston University (OK) on Monday, the Rams stand atop the conference standings at 8-2. They will meet Bennett and Texas College who also carry an 8-2 RRAC record on Saturday. As a part of Think Pink Week, Texas Wesleyan is encouraging all fans to wear pink to the game. That contest is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. tip-off.
