Mean Green runner Lauren Wiggins was named the Sun Belt Conference Women's Track Athlete of the Week for her performance last weekend at the JD Martin Invitational in Norman, Okla.

Wiggins, a junior from Carrollton , Texas set a school record and finished third in the 60-meter hurdles to lead the North Texas track and field team at the JD Martin Invitational despite being sick and missing practice most of the week.

Her mark of 8.29 is also an NCAA provisional qualifying mark. This is the second consecutive week that Wiggins has set the school record in the 60-meter hurdles. Her time of 8.46 last week at the Razorback Invite bested the previous mark of 8.47 that Wiggins set in 2006. Wiggins' time of 8.29 is the fastest time in the Sun Belt and the 11th best in the nation so far this season in the hurdles.

North Texas will take part in the its final tune-up meet as they travel to Lubbock, Texas for the Texas Tech Invite next weekend.
