The next Teen Summit will go on the road, providing local youth the chance to learn the ins and outs of the entertainment business. “Step into the Spotlight…Showcase Your Talent,” will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 23, at Radio One Dallas, 13331 Preston Road, Suite 1180. Hosted by Dallas Mayor Pro Tem Dwaine Caraway, KBFB 97.9 The Beat, and the Miss Dallas Scholarship Organization, the event will feature representatives from the modeling, acting, pageant, advertising and record industries.

Launched in July 2007 by Mr. Caraway, this is the first Teen Summit held outside of City Hall. The monthly Teen Summits are intended to give teens a platform to discuss important issues such as crime, drug abuse, education and self responsibility. The goal is to help young people develop greater self-esteem, confidence and leadership skills.

“We want our teens to be well informed and do what we can to prepare them to make the right choices,” said Caraway. “I’m committed to making positive changes in the lives of our young people, by providing opportunities to learn and explore their options.”

Teens who wish to participate can register at www.979thebeat.com. The applications must be received by Feb. 19. Seating is limited. For more information, call (972) 331-5423.
