— The McKinney Fired Department and city officials will break ground for McKinney Fire Station # 7 on Feb. 12 at 2 p.m. Members of the McKinney City Council and McKinney Fire Chief Mark Wallace will host the ceremony.

When built, the new station will provide service to the rapidly growing area of western McKinney, specifically to the numerous housing developments and commercial business complexes west of Custer Road. The 14,900 square foot station will also incorporate a community room available for city and private use. Cost of construction for this facility is estimated to be $4,220,207. Completion of the project is scheduled for early 2009.

"This station continues to reflect the planning and practice of strategically placed resources, and most importantly, highly trained fire and EMS professionals in areas where service is needed in a growing community such as ours," said Assistant Fire Chief Frank Roma.
