Laura Bush and mother eat at Sevy’s Grill in Dallas, exclamation point

Email Print Tell us your story Comments (8)

— First lady Laura Bush ate lunch at Sevy's Grill in Dallas last weekend with her 88-year-old mother, Jenna Welch, sez Alan Peppard. He gives good info on the vehicle situation -- "five Secret Service Suburbans" (doesn't that seem wasteful?) -- as well as the "small cadre of agents with earplugs" who "scrambled out and secured the restaurant". No deets on what the two ladies ate, however. The Bang Bang chicken salad, perhaps? Or the slow-roasted Kobe pot roast? Or maybe the angel-hair pasta with fresh spinach.

That same item also says that Martin Sheen, in town to speak at SMU's Tate Lecture Series, lunched at the Rosewood Mansion on Turtle Creek on Tuesday, the same day that Gilmore Girls' Lauren Graham was seen sucking down a martini in the Mansion's bar.

People related to the president eat food?

I'm flabbergasted!

God how I dread when George and Laura move to Dallas and this duller-than-the-dead crew's every dinner-luncheon whereabouts is reported breathlessly, daily. "The President had the bean and cheese nachos while the former First Lady sampled the queso." Gag me!

well my visit to Sevy's website did make me want to go have lunch there ... fresh corn chowder, spinach-and-five-grain salad, maybe i'm just hungry but it all sounds fabutastic

I bet they'll upgrade it to a spinach-and-six-grain salad when the Bushes move back.

I'm flabbergasted! There wasn't nearly as big a security detail when the Cheney's recently dined in town. Then again, it must be true that First Lady outranks Vice President on security scale.

Rawlins I think we will be ok if they move back to the north side of town. And perhaps if they move into the bubble only their little local publications (such as D Magazine) will give us the excruciating details.

The cool people in Dallas will be safe - but I admit I am a bit worried about a couple of the huge acreage estates for sale on W.Lawther Drive at the lake. Several Secret Service Suburbans could cause a severe cessation of recreational activites at White Rock.

Why do they have to move to Dallas? Jesus tap dancing Christ! They can live anywhere they want, why visit this on the people who's only fault is that they trusted you (twice)?

I went to Sevy's for V-day. I've been there before, and the rep is much deserved. We got a booth in the back and the food was great as usual.

It's a great food place that's high-end but isn't pretentious. Free valet, too.

Todd Rundgren My college roommate and her boyfriend looooved Todd Rundgren. They used to say "Todd is God." A lot. Anyway, he's touring to promote his new album, a rocker called Arena. More info
