I don't even want to hear about the greatness of SXSW. It is a torture to music fans! You can't get into any of it unless you are "somebody in the industry" - not really even club gigs. I'm sure it's an important and useful event for networking and signing, etc. But it frustrates me to death!
If anyone has any insight into how a person with no connections (i.e. regular joe) can ever enjoy/benefit from SXSW, I would be thrilled to know about it. I swear, it's a dangling carrot -and I guess that makes me, well, you know.

The best thing about SXSW is the spillover here in Dallas and Denton. I'm looking forward to seeing a few national acts that would otherwise skip our metroplex.
I'm also looking forward to catching some of these local bands when they come back to town high on the energy from SWSX.

I only recognize 3 bands from the list. I guess I'm not a local music hippie.
But if you are, and you're
hippiecool enough to get into SXSW, seems like littlekinder is propositioning you.1 year, 9 months ago ( Link to this comment | Suggest removal )

If it's any consolation to you, littlekinder, it's at least as hard for an artist with no connections to enjoy/benefit from SXSW.
(But that's probably just me being jealous that I never get in.)
