The high school yearbooks from McKinney High School, The Lion, and McKinney North High School, Reflections, recently received honors from the National Scholastic Press Association (NSPA) for their 2006-2007 yearbook publication.

The NSPA announced the top 56 yearbooks in the country from 2007. McKinney High School and McKinney North High School both made the list. All of the yearbooks selected will be recognized at the NSPA convention in Anaheim, California in April.

The 2008 McKinney Boyd yearbook, The Bronco, received an All-American rating from NSPA, which is the highest rating awarded. In addition, the yearbook received Marks of Distinction in all five categories judged. The rating is given to publications that rank high enough in the areas of Coverage, Concept, Design, Writing and Editing, and Photography.

A total of 31 yearbooks are on the Crown list, 56 yearbooks on the Pacemaker list, 20 yearbooks are on both lists and four of the yearbooks are on both lists with a first place Best of Show in their divisions. McKinney High School’s yearbook is one of the four with a first place Best of Show.

To date, The Lion has won 1st Place Best of Show from the Texas Association of Journalism Educators, a 1st Place Best of Show from the National Scholastic Press Association, seven straight All-Americans from the National Scholastic Press Association, 11 straight Distinguished Merits from the UIL, a Crown from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and named a Pacemaker finalist from the National Scholastic Press Association.
