Vernon Eugene Allen, a bus driver who was transporting Red Oak High school tennis players to and from a tournament in Forney, was arrested on Friday, Feb. 8 for allegedly buying and drinking alcohol while on duty. Department of Public Safety troopers arrested Allen after they received a call reporting Allen buying beer at a grocery store. No students were on board at the time as Allen had already dropped them off for their tournament. Allen faces two misdemeanor charges related to drinking while driving a bus, and has also been fired from his job with Student Transportation Specialists.
