— The Town of Northlake recently approved the zoning change from commercial to a mixed-use development and issued final site plan approval for Speedway Town Center at Northlake.

“The reason for the change to mixed-use was to create a residential component” said developer Eric Cox, “thus creating housing to accommodate the job growth in the area providing evening traffic for retail and entertainment in the Town Center.” The approval of the MPD ensured that the Town will have a high quality development while maintaining the vision of the Town Council. Mayor Peter Dewing stated “The Town of Northlake is very happy to welcome this development to our community. As a mixed-use development, Speedway Town Center fills a current void for shopping, dining, and entertainment as well as creating a destination for the entire area.”

The Speedway Town Center development will feature over1.6 million square feet of leasable retail, medical and office space in an open-air design. Additionally, there are over 16 acres of outparcel pad sites fronting IH 35W and FM 1171 to satisfy the need for local services and dining choices in the area. With the mixed-use zoning approved, Trophy Design & Development has started to court the market to sell or co-develop the residential component.
