University of Dallas men’s basketball drops two on the road

Trinity 80, UD 70
The University of Dallas Crusaders dropped their first game of a two-day swing in southern Texas by losing to the Trinity University Tigers, 80-70. Up by 1 at the half (39-38), the Tigers shot over 52% to escape with the 10 point victory.
Four Crusaders scored in double digits, led by senior forward Joe Packard (Lindale, TX/Lindale H.S.) with 19. He shot 6 for 14 from the field and 7 for 7 from the line, and added 4 rebounds and a block. Sophomore guard Jim Norton (Louisville, KY/Holy Angels Academy) scored 15 points and hauled down 4 boards for the visitors, while sophomore guard Jeff Pritchard (Frisco, TX/Frisco H.S.) was next up with 14 points. Pritchard also led the team with 6 rebounds, 3 assists, and 5 steals. Senior forward Nick Netsch (Highland Village, TX/Marcus H.S.) scored 13 points, and hauled down 3 rebounds. He also added 1 steal and 1 assist.
Southwestern 55, UD 52
The University of Dallas men’s basketball team was unable to mount a successful comeback against the Southwestern University Pirates in Sunday night’s 55-52 loss. Down by 6 at the break, UD outscored and outshot (52%) the Pirates in the second half, but ultimately lost by 3.
Senior forward Joe Packard (Lindale, TX/Lindale H.S.) once again led the way offensively for the Crusaders by scoring 21 points. He also added 4 rebounds, 2 steals, and 2 assists. Senior forward Nick Netsch (Highland Village, TX/Marcus H.S.) and sophomore guard Jim Norton (Louisville, KY/Holy Angels Academy) also scored in double digits with 11 and 15 points respectively. Netsch led the team with 14 rebounds no his way to registering his 3rd double-double of the season. He also added 1 block and 1 steal.
Next up for the Crusaders is a home game on Friday, February 15 against Johnson & Wales University – Denver. The game starts at 8:00pm.
