UNT Chamber Orchestra performance to feature music faculty participation
How about a little touch of Haydn to spice up your post-Presidents Day midweek agenda? Hey, come out from under that desk, I'm talking about Franz Joseph Haydn, the renowned Austrian practical joker also known for the occasional composition of symphonies and concerti.
On Feb. 20 at 8 p.m. in the Murchison Performing Arts Center, selections by Haydn, Schubert and Mendelssohn will be performed by the University of North Texas Chamber Orchestra.
Four UNT professors will be involved in the performance, including Igor Borodin, associate professor of music (on violin); Eugene Osadchy, associate professor of music (handling the cello); Charles Veazey, Regents Professor of music (keying the oboe); and Kathleen Reynolds, associate professor of music (breathing artfully into that bazooka-like musical curiosity, the bassoon). Clay Couturiaux will conduct.
Tickets for the performance are $7 to the much-ballyhooed general public, $5 for non-UNT students, seniors, faculty and staff, and free to UNT students with confirming ID.
