Die hard CompUSAddicts need not fret: at least one location is safe

— According to this story in the Dallas Business Journal, it appears that at least one of the DFW area's CompUSA stores will be spared the axe this month. Systemax, who purchased many of the ailing computer retailer's stores in January, has announced plans to keep a store in Plano open.

Two other stores in Texas will also remain operational, in El Paso and McAllen.

According to the report, employees at the Plano location will be retained, retrained and ready to go when the store undergoes some renovation and re-stocking.

FYI: the corporate headquarters in north dallas is liquidating assets (desks, cubicles, office supplies, etc). they have more staplers than anyone could ever want.

prices are pretty steep right now, but maybe you'll find something i didn't. the junk is in their building on southwest corner of beltline and tollway.

Yeah, I stopped by a few days ago. Some of their stuff is ridiculously overpriced.

Who would pay $40 for a framed news article about CompUSA?
