Between now and Friday, Feb. 22, students from both within and without Texas Woman's University will be able to enter TWU's annual Edible Car Contest, which takes place beginning at 9 a.m. on Friday, Feb . 29 in the Southwest Banquet Room of Hubbard Hall (on Administration Drive).
Each team must consist of four members, and it's mandatory that at least two of them are female. (Hey, this thing is, after all, sponsored by the Texas WOMAN'S University College of Arts & Sciences, and the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science.) Entries must actually "look like cars," it says here, and must adhere to the other design specs as laid out in the registration packet.
Competing entries - which, in past years, have incorporated cucumbers, hot dogs, ice cream cones and bread loaves, with wheels composed of pasta, cookies and/or Moon Pies - should be able to roll down a 10-foot ramp on a 20 degree incline. Oh, and forget about rich, expensive food fare: the total cost of materials cannot exceed $10.
Judging will be done (by professional engineers) based upon aerodynamics, design details and speed of the assembled vehicles. No mention is made of taste, which implies that even edible cars designed to look like Cadillacs should pass muster.

Saturday Tastings in the Wine and Beer Department Little Joey just LOVES the Saturday wine tastings at Central Market - he particularly likes the blind tastings, when he can sneak a snort while Mommie's not looking. (Great nose!) More info
