SMU women’s tennis’ Bubien named player of the week

SMU junior Natalia Bubien was named Conference USA's Women's Tennis Player of the Week, as announced by the conference Tuesday.
Bubien remains undefeated in singles play at the No. 1 spot, notching a perfect 5-0 record this season. Saturday, Bubien topped second nationally-ranked opponent of the season, defeating No. 70 Iryna Tkachenko of Oklahoma State, 6-1, 6-7 (8), 6-2. Bubien also had a perfect weekend in doubles, defeating both Allen/Shatkovskaya of OSU, 8-6, and Brownfield/Matlock of UT-Dallas, 8-0. On the year, the Warsaw, Poland native is 5-1 playing No. 1 doubles.
The weekly honor is the first for Bubien this season and her second career honor.
Bubien and the Mustangs head to North Carolina this weekend to take on No. 45 NC State on Saturday and No. 15 Duke Sunday.
