The Texas Wesleyan University softball team (0-2) took losses of 8-7 and 17-3 to Oklahoma Baptist University (2-0) in their home opener at Sycamore Park on Tuesday.

The Lady Rams made the Lady Bison sweat in the first game after a six run sixth inning including 2 RBI single from Rainey Reynolds to trial 8-7 going into the last inning.

A quick three up-three down top of the seventh set the Lady Rams up for a comeback.

A pinch hit single from Ariel Raley put Tara Martinez on third with two outs and Reynolds at the plate, but the Lady Rams came up just short with a flyout to left field to take an 8-7 loss to OBU in game one.

Whitney Heltzel (1-0) earned the win after allowing seven runs, five earned, on ten hits in six innings pitched. Ashley Oldham (0-1) was tagged with the loss after allowing seven runs, three earned, on five hits in 3.1 innings of work.

In game two the Lady Bison jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning, but a double from Elizabeth Brady led the Lady Rams to three runs of their own in the second to tie the game at three.

The Lady Bison reclaimed the lead with two runs in the fourth inning to make it 5-3 Oklahoma Baptist.

The wheels came off for Texas Wesleyan in the sixth as OBU sent 17 hitters to the plate and scored 12 runs to bring the score to 17-3.

Sonya Beach (1-0) took the win in game two allowing three runs, one earned, on five hits in six innings pitched. Taylor Wood (0-1) took the loss after allowing six runs, four earned, on seven hits in five innings of work.

Texas Wesleyan returns to action on Saturday, when they travel to Hobbs, NM, to take on College of the Southwest. That RRAC doubleheader is scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
