Friday:
- Mark Messersmith is opening his first Texas exhibit, Southern Mythology by at Valley House Gallery and Sculpture Center.
- Both Reflection Fine Arts and the DMA are continuing with their respective Friday night activities.
- Real Time is opening Friday at the Dallas Contemporary, featuring a multitude of multimedia artists.
Saturday:
- Graffiti artist Sergio Garcia is asking patrons to "dress to the nines" for the opening of his show "Formal" at Kettle Art.
- Artizen is opening Layer Upon Layer.
- If you're out in Fort Worth, William Campbell is hosting an opening reception for Bob "Daddy-o" Wade. The name alone is enough to pique one's interest.
- Marty Walker is opening "Triple Vision" with artwork by Ted Kincaid, Tom Orr and Susie Rosmarin.
- Conduit Gallery is opening Collecting & Collectivity, in which the curators beg the question, If art can be made by more than one individual, how does that affect the trend of the art star as a lone genius?
- There is an opening reception for the C.A. Smith exhibit at Thornwood Gallery.
- PDNB is having an opening for their two concurrent shows, Joakim Eneroth's "Swedish Red - Comfortably Secure" and Peter Brown's "West of Last Chance."
- Holly Johnson is opening a group show, Delineation.
- Check out William Cannings' inflated objects, opening at Pan American Art Projects.
- Norwood Flynn is opening Jack Barnett's “Indefinite Allegories”.

West Fest Polka Festival Westfest kicks off the weekend Friday evening with the Miss Westfest Contest. Gates to the fairground (in West, Texas, south on I-35 just beyond Hillsboro) open at 5:30 p.m., and you can hang out touring the food booths until the 12:30 a.m. closing. If there was ever a place to do your "wurst," this is it. And don't forget kolaches for dessert. More info
